CARMEL, Ind., June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Conseco, Inc. (NYSE: CNO) is among a select group in the six-county Central Indiana area that earned the coveted "Company that Cares" distinction for results during the 2007 United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) annual workplace campaign, announced UWCI President and CEO Ellen K. Annala.
The recognition is awarded to organizations that reach their fundraising or participation goal and achieve benchmarks in volunteer community involvement, leadership giving and more. "Companies that Care" also excel in educating employees about community needs and the best ways to meet them, and exemplify the spirit of volunteerism by allowing employees to give time to United Way and its agencies.
Conseco's 2007 United Way campaign won several other awards, including: -- "Breakthrough Campaign" award - Terri Bendes, campaign coordinator for 2007, and her team executed two leadership presentations, promotions at summer concerts, and an employee lunch fair involving 10 UW agencies, with the 2007 campaign theme of "Its Your Turn." Conseco had a "breakthrough campaign" for the second consecutive year by increasing donations to the campaign by 30%. -- "Top 10 Company in Hamilton County" award - Conseco was among the top 10 money-raising companies in Hamilton County during the 2007 campaign. -- Day of Caring - Conseco was recognized for participating in United Way's Day of Caring. Associates gave up a Saturday to perform fix-up and back-office chores at two United Way agencies.
