<p><b>Carmel, Ind. September 20, 2007</b> - Conseco, Inc., announced that David D. Humm has been promoted to vice president, corporate tax. </p>

<p>In this role, Humm will oversee tax compliance for Conseco, Inc., and its subsidiary companies, including Conseco Insurance Group, Bankers Life and Casualty Company, and Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company. Humm reports to Conseco EVP and Chief Financial Officer Ed Bonach.</p>

<p>Humm joined Conseco in 1988 and has served in corporate tax positions for almost 20 years. Before Conseco, he was employed by Great American Reserve Insurance Company of Dallas, Texas, where he served as tax manager from 1984-1988. </p>

<p>Humm holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and is a certified public accountant in Indiana and Texas. He is an NASD registered representative and limited principal, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. </p>
