Carmel, Ind. June 4, 2007 - Conseco Insurance Company today introduced its newest supplemental health product, Accident Secure® PLUS.
For middle Americans today, supplemental accident insurance can provide valuable protection against unexpected costs related to accidental injury. The National Safety Council reports that 66% of all accidents occur off-the-job, and that over 82% of all costs due to accidental injuries in 2004 were non-medical in nature. Non-medical costs can include expenses such as copays, transportation, and physical therapy visits that are not fully covered by major medical insurance or worker’s compensation plans.
Accident Secure PLUS offers accidental death and dismemberment coverage, providing two levels of benefit amounts. Specified injury benefits offered include coverage for fractures, dislocations, lacerations, paralysis and burns. Emergency room, ICU and ambulance benefits are included in both levels of coverage.
Policyholders can choose to add optional disability benefits to their coverage, with disability coverage available up to age 70. The product’s off-the-job accident total disability benefit covers policyholders when an accident occurs away from work and causes disability. The 24-hour accident short-term disability benefit covers policyholders 24 hours a day, both on- and off-the-job.
Optional riders for Accident Secure PLUS include:
Accident Secure PLUS is offered to individuals between the ages of 18 and 69. Individual and family coverage is available via direct or worksite sales.
“We are excited to introduce Accident Secure PLUS -- a simplified product that’s designed and priced to meet the needs of middle Americans,?? said Michael Dubes, president of Conseco Insurance Company. “Our company is focused on the middle market, and we recognize and appreciate the financial difficulties that they face with unexpected medical expenses. Accident Secure PLUS can provide the assurance that financial resources will be protected if an accidental injury occurs.??
Dubes continued, “The Conseco insurance companies are proud that we have never raised a premium on an existing accident policyholder. This is very reassuring to clients who are concerned with rising health care costs and decreasing benefits with major medical coverage.??
