CARMEL, Ind., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Conseco, Inc. (NYSE: CNO) reported today that it has completed the previously announced refinancing of its credit facility. As a result of the refinancing, the principal amount outstanding under the credit facility increased from $478 million to $675 million and the maturity was extended from 2010 to 2013. The interest rate on the amended facility will be 200 basis points over LIBOR, an increase of 25 basis points over the prior facility. Conseco is using approximately $200 million of the proceeds from the refinancing to strengthen the capital of its insurance subsidiaries.
