Conseco, Inc. Donates $100,000 to Community Partners

Carmel, Ind., March 29, 2006 - Conseco, Inc. is donating a total of $100,000 to two community partners -- the American Red Cross and the Alzheimer's Association -- on behalf of Conseco's employees. Each organization is receiving $50,000.

Mike Dubes, president of Conseco Insurance Group, on March 27 presented a $50,000 check to John Lyter, CEO of the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis. The presentation was made at Carmel High School, following the 47th Annual Red Cross Hall of Fame. Sponsored by Conseco, the Hall of Fame honors local heroes who have risked their lives to save others.

The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergency situations; Conseco's insurance products protect and prepare Americans for these same emergencies. Through a partnership with the Greater Indianapolis Red Cross that began in 2004, Conseco employees serve as Red Cross volunteers in varied disciplines throughout the year.

Scott Perry, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Conseco's Bankers Life and Casualty subsidiary, will be presenting a $50,000 check to the Alzheimer's Association at a later date.

Bankers Life and Casualty specializes in providing insurance products to seniors. The Alzheimer's Association shares this commitment to seniors, leading the fight against Alzheimer's disease through funding for research, support for patients, caregiver services and public advocacy. Bankers Life and Casualty supports the Alzheimer's Association through its annual Forget Me Not Days event, where Bankers' agents and employees help raise money for Alzheimer's disease in their communities across the country.

Conseco is dedicated to serving our communities, and we encourage our associates and business partners to volunteer and get involved. Our community outreach program demonstrates that commitment and connects to our insurance products and our business goals.
