Conseco Hires Mike Bottoms as Senior Vice President, Agent Care

Carmel, Ind.: February 7, 2005 – Michael B. Bottoms has been hired as senior vice president, agent care, for the Conseco insurance companies. In this position, Bottoms is responsible for all aspects of agent services, including licensing and contracting, commissions, new business and underwriting, and call center service for Conseco’s Carmel-based companies. He reports to Steve Stecher, executive vice president of operations and information technology.

Bottoms has worked in the insurance industry for more than 25 years. Most recently he served as second vice president and national director of marketing services for Central States Health and Life Company of Omaha. Previously, he worked with Hartford Financial Services for more than 20 years, serving as regional vice president during his last five years with the company. Prior to his insurance career, Bottoms worked for Indiana state government and served in the U.S. military.

“At Conseco Insurance, Mike will be responsible for implementing key technology initiatives to improve enterprise workflow and deliver high quality services to our valued distribution partners,” Stecher said. “Mike’s hiring aligns with Conseco Insurance’s operational restructuring that was initiated last year. His industry experience—particularly in insurance operations—will help Conseco reach its goal of operational excellence.”

Bottoms holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He has earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and is a member of the C.P.C.U. Society.
