Carmel, Ind.: June 13, 2005 — Conseco, Inc., announced that Grace M. Brothers has been promoted to vice president, benefits and human resources controller.

Brothers is responsible for the design and administration of all employee benefit plans, including health and welfare benefits and the company’s 401(k) retirement savings plan, for the company’s employees nationwide. She also oversees human resource expense management and financial analysis for Conseco’s human resources initiatives. Brothers reports to Sue Menzel, executive vice president of human resources.

Since joining Conseco in 1997, Brothers has served in management positions within Conseco’s internal audit and human resources departments. Before Conseco, she was employed by the Indianapolis office of BKD, LLP, a public accounting and advisory firm, and at NBD Bank of Indianapolis.

Brothers holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ball State University. She is a certified public accountant in the state of Indiana and is a member of the Indiana CPA Society.
