National Business Group on Health Awards CNO Financial Group Top Honors For Workforce Well-Being

CARMEL, Ind., Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Business Group on Health, a non-profit association of 425 large U.S. employers, today honored CNO Financial Group for having one of the top five best workforce well-being programs in the nation.

CNO Financial Group, a holding company for several national life and health insurers that serve middle-income working Americans and retirees, was among 55 U.S. employers that received the 2016 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award.

For the second straight year, CNO Financial Group received the Platinum Award – the highest designation – for its corporate wellness program. CNO's wellness program features a number of on-site resources to empower and engage associates to strive for health and wellness, including onsite clinics, health coaching, weight management programs, walking workstations, yoga, health challenges, organic food delivery and online resources. This is the third consecutive year that CNO Financial Group has been honored as a Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles.

In addition to the Platinum Award, CNO Financial Group was honored with a second recognition this year – Well-Being Top Honors. The Top Honors designation recognizes five companies who received high well-being and overall scores from the panel of judges. The award focuses on the broader dimensions of well-being (emotional, financial, social, physical health and job-related), and looked for companies who are able to connect employee, family and community well-being with certain business performance metrics.

"We are honored to receive these awards for our ongoing commitment to promote a healthy work environment and improve the quality of life for our associates and their families," said Ed Bonach, CEO of CNO Financial Group. "To have earned this recognition for three years straight validates our invested efforts and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to creating a culture of health."

"We congratulate CNO Financial Group for their dedication to improve the well-being of their employees," said Brian Marcotte, president and CEO of the National Business Group on Health. "Employers are transitioning their focus from offering traditional wellness programs focused primarily on improving their employees' physical health to holistic well-being strategies aimed at enhancing the various facets of employees and their families' lives. We commend CNO and its leaders for their innovation."

Winners of the 2016 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards were honored in one of three categories: Platinum, for implementing a workforce well-being strategy with demonstrated results across the dimensions of well-being; Gold, for organizations with a strong commitment to holistic well-being and related metrics; and Silver, for organizations with emerging well-being strategies and metrics, often with a focus on physical health.
