CNO Financial Group Wins 2012 Spirit United Award

CARMEL, Ind., March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CNO Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: CNO) was one of four Central Indiana companies honored today with United Way of Central Indiana's 2012 Spirit United award.

CNO, one of Hamilton Country's largest employers, was recognized for demonstrating exemplary commitment to volunteer and financial support for United Way's mission and community priorities.  CNO was chosen from a pool of more than 1,000 eligible companies.

"Being a good corporate citizen is a focus of CNO's brand promise and we are extremely pleased to see one of our local campaigns get statewide recognition," said Ed Bonach, CEO of CNO Financial Group.  "On behalf of CNO employees, who mostly live and work in Central Indiana, we are honored to receive the prestigious Spirit United award and we look forward to continuing our efforts to support the LIVE UNITED movement of giving, advocating, and volunteering."

To be eligible for Spirit United, a company had to have won United Way's Company that Cares award for the past three years, have provided financial support and resources above and beyond a successful workplace campaign, and significant volunteer support for United Way's mission.

"CNO joins the ranks of 12 other iconic partners in helping us to create a community where we can be proud of the quality of life for everyone," said Ellen K. Annala, United Way's president and CEO.

Since 1995, the company has raised more than $5 million for United Way.  And for more than a decade, CNO has earned the prestigious United Way's Company that Cares award.  Through United Christmas Service, CNO has helped almost 400 families in need for the past 12 years.  The company also has participated in BackPack Attack for 13 consecutive years, and has been a key partner of the American Red Cross since 2003.

Spirit United recipients were chosen by a volunteer task force of previous winners. For more information about United Way's LIVE UNITED movement, visit uwci.org.
